چکیده

Electron nuclear double resonance signals of the pyrrole nitrogens of bacteriochlorophyll alpha cation in a solution of CH2Cl2/CH3OH (6:1) have been observed. The nitrogens are inequivalent: the hyperfine coupling constants were determined to be 2.36 and 3.18 MHz (0.84 and 1.14 G, respectively). Triple electron nuclear double resonance experiments have yielded the signs and values of nine proton hyperfine coupling constants. The assignment based on these data agrees well with previous work (Borg, D.C., Forman, A. & Fajer, J. (1976) J. Amer. Chem. Soc. 98, 6889-6893); in addition, two methine protons have been identified. Spin densities calculated from the hyperfine couplings are compared to reported molecular orbital calculations.

Structural studies of the primary donor cation radical P(870) in reaction centers of Rhodospirillum rubrum by electron-nuclear double resonance in solution.

The light-induced cation radical of the primary electron donor, P(870) (+.), in photosynthetic reaction centers from Rhodospirillum rubrum G-9, has been investigated by electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) in liquid aqueous solution. The measured hyperfine coupling constants are assigned to specific molecular positions by partial deuteration. Comparison with the bacteriochlorophyll a catio...

Study of Ionic Solvation and Determination of Solvation Numbers of Alkaline Earth Cations with HMPA in Nitromethane Using 1H NMR Technique

A proton NMR method for the drtermination of salvation numbers of alkaline earth cations with hexamethyl phosphoramide (HMPA) in nitromethane (NM) as diluents is described. The method is based on monitoring the resonance frequency of HMPA protons as a function of HMPA / metal ion molar ratio at constant metalion concentration. The average salvation number of cations,  , at any HMPA / metal ...

ENDOR studies of substituted chlorophyll cation radicals

Cation radicals of substituted chlorophyll (Chl) a molecules were characterized by EPR and ENDOR spectroscopy. The effect of substitutions of the vinyl group at position 3 and the carbomethoxy group at 13 as well as the replacement of the central magnesium atom by zinc were investigated. All major hyperfine coupling constants could be determined and assigned to specific molecular positions. Com...

On the spin distribution in bridged anthracene - viologen molecules : an electron - nuclear double resonance study

Studies on the spin distribution in the radical state of anthracene-a bridgeviologen supermolecules with different bridge units are reported. Electronnuclear double resonance experiments (ENDOR) were performed on electrochemically reduced molecules. Proton hyperfine coupling constants at different molecular sites were obtained and are discussed in detail. The experimentally determined values ar...
